Training for skippers and experienced crew members

Dear sailing friends!

From 4 to 11 April 2026, we are hosting a training program for skippers and experienced crew members – a week full of hands-on practice, exchange, expertise, and unforgettable sailing moments.

Main topics for the training

• Exchange of experience & local area knowledge
• Travel reports from various sailing regions
• Bays, anchoring and mooring fields, marina experiences
• Culinary recommendations from the region

Safety for vessel & crew

• POB (person overboard) maneuvers under sail
• Towing, emergency maneuvers, boat handling
• Practice-oriented safety exercises

Technology & practical knowledge

• Sail trim with battened mainsail & genoa
• Common malfunctions & simple repairs

Current maritime topics

• Legal amendments & regulations
• Procedures in case of damage
• SeaHelp: deployment statistics & recommended measures
• FreeWave: experience reports on accidents and assistance operations

Individual focus areas

Each participant can contribute their own preferred topics. At the beginning of the week, we will present the content and jointly decide which focus areas will be covered in depth.

Community & shared experiences

A special highlight is the planned evening exchange with the FreeWave Base Manager, as well as a joint dinner featuring traditional Croatian specialties (expected on Tuesday).
